Second Chances

I think I might tell Eli. They saw me see one today. The creature was sitting on the hood of my car, squatting like a bloated toad. It looked at me and I could tell it was smelling the air. Or me. I froze and Eli started asking me what was wrong. I didn’t know what to do, so I shrugged and told them I thought I saw something. It was very hard to walk past my car with them with that thing sniffing me. It took everything I had not to turn my head and look at it. I thought about that thing all the way to the Broadberry.

The creature was slimy with dark blue skin and brown spots. It had little feet like the other one, kind of bulbous. It didn’t have any eyes. It did have a mouth but it had a jagged underbite. How could it eat anything with its mouth like that?

It was overcast today. I have noticed they don’t come out when the sun is shining. So far anyway. I can’t remember if I have seen any in the rain. Shit I need to write all of this down. All of it.
